Theme, fonts and display zoom

Appearance settings affect only what is shown on screen and are not written to Markdown files.

Theme

Under Theme in Settings, choose a built-in theme: Folora green, White, GitHub, Night, Folora violet or Violet night. When you choose Follow the system, set the themes to use for Light appearance and Dark appearance.

To customize a theme, select a theme and click Duplicate this theme, then click Open the themes folder and edit the theme.json in it. The display updates as soon as you save the file; Reload themes reads the themes again manually.

Fonts

Under Fonts and display, you can set Interface font, Text font and Source and code font separately. The preview and the current document update immediately. The available fonts are System default, Noto Sans SC, Noto Serif SC, Inter and JetBrains Mono, all installed with the app and usable without a network connection. Reset fonts resets only the fonts. Display zoom

Display zoom adjusts the text size in the editor, in 7 steps from 75% to 200%. The default is 100%. You can choose a step directly from ⋯ at the right end of the status bar, press ⌘= to zoom in, ⌘- to zoom out and ⌘0 to return to actual size, or pinch with two fingers on the trackpad.

Line and paragraph spacing

Line and paragraph spacing under Writing in Settings is a 9-step slider that adjusts line spacing, paragraph spacing and heading spacing together. Next to the slider, a label shows whether the current step is Compact or Relaxed compared with the default; Restore default returns to the default step. Heading rules in the same section controls whether a rule is shown below level 1 and level 2 headings.
