Opening files and folders
Folora can open a single Markdown file, or open a folder as a workspace.
Open a file
- Press
⌘O(Open file) and choose a file. - Press
⌘⇧O(Quick open file), type part of a file name and pick a file from the workspace. - Press
⌘⇧P(Open by path) and type the full path of a file or folder. - Drag an .md file into the window. The file opens in a new tab.
If the file is already open, Folora switches to its existing tab instead of opening it again.
Open a folder
Choose Open workspace in the File menu, or click + next to Workspace on the sidebar’s Files page, then choose a folder. The sidebar then lists the folder’s Markdown files in a file tree. See Tabs and workspace. There is no keyboard shortcut for opening a folder.

Recent
Recent at the bottom of the sidebar’s Files page and Open Recent in the File menu list recently used files and workspaces. Files that no longer exist are shown in gray; click the × next to one to Remove from list.
Multiple windows
Press ⌘⇧N (New window) to open another window. Each window has its own workspace and tabs. A file can be open in only one window; if you open it again from another window, Folora switches to the window that already has it open.
Open from Finder
In Finder, Control-click an .md or .markdown file and choose Folora from Open With.
When Folora is not the default app for Markdown files, the notification bar shows “Folora is not what opens Markdown files yet.” Click Make Folora the default and double-clicking an .md file in Finder opens it in Folora. Click Don’t ask again to stop the prompt. If you click Not now or close the prompt, it asks again the next day.
